Tony Noonan Bio

Tony Noonan-Sustainable Skills Board Director

Tony Noonan is one of our ongoing Board Directors. Tony is a highly experienced senior executive with a background in Mining, Construction, Human Resources, Education and Training with widely diversified skills and relationships across the Australian and Chinese resource sectors, as well as many Indigenous communities in Australia.

With over 15 years’ experience in executive and non-executive directorships, he has served on the Boards of Maanshan Iron & Steel (Aust) since 2004 and was a Director of SkillsDMC for 4 years also serving as chair of the Finance Audit and Risk committee of that board.

In WA Tony has been a member of the Resource Sector Training Council for 8 years and has recently joined the Board of Recansy Consulting Australia.  In the past Tony has served on the Board of the Ashburton Health Service and was recently serving on the board of management of eleven Indigenous joint ventures companies.

Tony runs a successful consultancy service focussing on business strategy for Indigenous businesses along with an employee relations practice.  He has established strong professional, government and Indigenous community links, as well as well extensive networks in the Chinese resources sector and industry groupings.

Tony was employed by Hamersley Iron (now RioTinto) as the Principal Personnel Advisor for the Paraburdoo and Channar operations throughout the 1990’s and then spent a few years at MIM’s Oakey creek Coal operation in Qld as the head of HR, OH&S and Community Services.  This was followed by a return to WA as the national employee Relations Manager for Alinta and then he moved to Macmahon Contractors as head of HR before heading up Macmahon’s successful Indigenous business – Doorn-Djil Yoordaning Mining & Construction.
