Cate van der Vossen is a qualified teacher, workplace trainer and assessor with over 25 years’ experience within the TVET sector. Cate is currently working with Sustainable Skills as Assessment and Adult Education Specialist for the Fiji ‘Head of Schools’ Skill Development Program.
Cate van der Vossen has dedicated her professional life to the development of students, teachers and school leaders. She has worked in Public Education in WA as a secondary classroom teacher, and a Vocational Education and Training coordinator.
For a number of years, Cate was employed as professional learning consultant with the Department of Education WA Institute for Professional Learning, (now the Leadership Institute). Her work here included coordinating the Graduate Teacher Induction Program, the writing, delivery and review of four professional learning modules, and training of external facilitators.
Currently, Cate is contracted as a workplace trainer and assessor with the Registered Training Organisation Skills Strategies International, and works as a tutor in the Education Unit at Edith Cowan University. She is also a licensed coach/master trainer with Parentshop, a nationally based company focused on leading life long behavioural change with a target market ranging from parents, afterschool carers, to teachers, school leaders and aspirants.
In November 2018, Cate has been appointed Assessment and Adult Education Specialist for the Fiji ‘Head of Schools’ Skill Development Program for Sustainable Skills, and is currently working with a team of two other experts who have been deployed to Suva, Fiji to kick-off the project which will be delivered over approximately six and a half months from November 2018 to May 2019. The team will spend part of their time in-country in Fiji consulting with stakeholders and part of their time working remotely from other locations.
Cate has proven skills and expertise in:
- Design, deliver, and monitor learning programs for graduates, teachers, and school leaders
- Establish and maintain stakeholders’ communication networks
- Design the training, delivery and assessment of competency for nationally
recognised qualifications both in schools and industry - Coach early career teachers and support principals in assessing the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
Cate has a passion for leading a positive learning culture in the workplace. With her experience in designing and delivering and assessing professional learning across WA, Cate believes change begins with a commitment to quality, targeted professional learning that has a measurable impact on change and leads to successful outcomes for all.
Cate holds a Diploma of Teaching in English and Communications, a Bachelor of Education, as well as a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
