Benon Webare Bio

Benon Webare – Associate Consultant Uganda Project

Benon Webare is a senior consultant with extensive local and international experience in strategic and project management across the health, education, governance and social development sectors. He is a member of the Kampala based team who is delivering our Due Diligence and Technical Evaluation project to address skills imbalances and shortages in Uganda. The project, sponsored by the World Bank, was officially awarded to Sustainable Skills in July 2017. 

Over the past 10 years, Benon has led a number of consultancy projects in Uganda focussing on gender equality, women’s empowerment, peace building and conflict resolution, orphans and vulnerable children, governance in NGOs and Local Governments, as well as food and nutrition security.

Before starting his consultancy career, Benon worked for almost 10 years at Save the Children Norway in Uganda undertaking a number of different roles including Child Advocacy Project Officer, Project Manager for the Child Centered Community Development Project, Program Coordinator for partnerships, and Program Support Service Manager.

He served also as Regional Director at the World Education/ John Snow Inc. Research and Training Institute implemented Uganda Program for Human and Holistic Development for three years, Country Director for Voluntary Service Overseas Uganda for five years, as well as National Program Manager for the 7 month Cardno Inc. implemented Local Government Leaders Induction of Local Councilors Sub-Program.

Benon has proven skills and expertise in:

  • Strategic Planning, and Program Development and Management
  • Managing Organisational Capacity Assessment and Capacity Building projects
  • Conducting donor mapping exercises, developing and managing institutional donor focused fundraising strategies
  • Managing research, training, advocacy, stakeholder and community engagement projects in Health, HIV and AIDS, Education, and Social Development sector
  • Conflict transformation
  • Governance in Local Governments and NGOs
  • Child Rights Governance, and Human Rights Programming.

Benon holds a Bachelor of Statistics from Makerere University in Uganda, a Master of Business Administration (Strategic Management) from the Cyprus Institute of Marketing, as well as several Diplomas and Certificates in development management. He can fluently speak and write English, Luganda, and Runyakitara (Runyoro- Rutooro; Runyankole – Rukiga).
