Mike Prime Bio

Mike Prime is a multi-disciplinary capacity development, stakeholder relations and communications specialist who engages across all levels and value-adds across industries. A strongly experienced past Head of Schools himself, Mike is currently leading the Fiji ‘Head of Schools’ Skill Development Program for Sustainable Skills.

Mike has over 25 years’ experience in capacity building for leadership, communications, and stakeholder engagement projects in cross-cultural contexts across multiple sectors including mining and construction; oil and gas, education and training, event across the corporate, public service and not for profit sectors. He has led and managed programs in Australian Central Desert, Kimberley, Goldfields and Pilbara; Regional and remote Indigenous communities; and has engaged internationally in Dubai, Beirut and Timor-Leste, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan.

In November 2018, Mike has been appointed Team Leader for the Fiji ‘Head of Schools’ Skill Development Program for Sustainable Skills, and is currently managing a team of two other experts who have been deployed to Suva, Fiji to kick-off the project which will be delivered over approximately six and a half months from November 2018 to May 2019. Whilst Mike will remain in Fiji for the duration of the Project, the team will spend part of their time in-country in Fiji consulting with stakeholders and part of their time working remotely from other locations.

Mike was originally a Principal across both  Primary and Secondary education, and then went to The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia advocating for education, training and workforce participation in the resources sector. Mike then spent five years at Eni Australia in External Relations and Joint Venture Management roles, and then as Principal Coach, Lead Facilitator, and Associate Consultant for a number of Australian and International organisations.

Mike is currently Board Director for Education Changemakers USA, was a member of the Kimberley Steering Committee for Education, Employment and Training, and he chaired the Pilbara District Education Council.

Mike holds a Master of Business Leadership  from Curtin University, a Bachelor of Education, as well as a Diploma of Teaching from Edith Cowan University, in Western Australia. He speaks English, and has been immersed in the languages of Italian, Arabic, Northern Australian Kriol, Ngaanyatjarra, Indonesian and  Tetum/Portuguese.
